We Heart Health Literacy

For five years, I served as the sole illustrator for CommunicateHealth’s blog, We Heart Health Literacy. Once every week, we sent out practical health literacy tips and tricks that promoted plain language and accessibility to thousands of subscribers.

• When I took over illustrating for We Heart Health Literacy, I conducted a complete rebrand of the art style that built upon the quirky and simple characters of the blog. I added in a limited color palette, pulled from the company branding, that uses color selectively to highlight the expressive characters. Backgrounds were kept as pure lineart to keep the focus on the foreground.
• I created the handwritten font to give the illustrationsa more hand-drawn, authentic feel.
• In total, over 200 illustrations were created on a tight weekly schedule. I collaborated directly with post writers in order to ensure each illustration aligned with the content.
