Pediatric Vaccination Campaign

ASSOCIATION OF IMMUNIZATION MANAGERS (AIM)

AIM asked CommunicateHealth to help create a media library of free co-brandable assets encouraging new and expecting parents to vaccinate their babies. For this project:

  • I served as the lead and only designer for the entire library, developing the branding guidelines and all assets and materials from start to finish. Content was created by our writing team, and I presented my designs directly to the client for input and approval.
  • I created 16 individual ads, 4 social media graphics, 2 printable worksheets, and a video that I fully storyboarded and animated. All materials were made in both English and Spanish to accomodate the audience.
  • Products were designed to comply with best practices for accessible design, including meeting WCAG color contrast standards. Additionally, I personally remediated the worksheets for Section 508 compliance.
  • Programs used for this project include Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Acrobat.

To begin, I conducted a design scan of other pediatric materials, especially those that were empathetic towards vaccination. I used my research to inform a look and feel that would feel familiar, yet stand out among similar materials.

The chosen color palette is meant to be distinctive, yet still maintain a serene and trustworthy feel. The teals and greens bring a sense of calm, with small pops of peach to infuse bits of cheerfulness and security to the materials. These colors were also chosen to accent the main AIM color palette, so the materials would fit among the AIM website.

The color palette was also put together to ensure there was sufficient color contrast. Every text and background color combination has a color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 or higher, the minimum required to meet WCAG color contrast standards.
